New Student Orientation - Virtual
Description
New Student Orientations are encouraged for all new students, students with fewer than 12 completed credits, students with fewer than 12 transferred credits, and strongly recommended for all students.
Questions & Answers
You'll receive important information about Durham Tech during New Student Orientation. We recommend having items such as a pen and paper to take notes during the presentation. QR codes linked to web information will also be embedded throughout the presentation, so a camera enabled and internet connected phone is also encouraged.
New Student Orientations begin promptly at the start time noted. If you are unable to attend the entire orientation, have to leave early, or arrive late, you may sign up to attend another orientation. An email will be sent before the virtual meeting so that you can log in to attend.
An email with your virtual New Student Orientation link will be sent to you before the event begins. Once you join the session, you'll be placed in a virtual lobby until the presenters are ready to admit students to the live presentation.
If you are an individual with a disability and need an accommodation(s) for the New Student Orientation, contact Accessibility Services at 919-536-7200 ext. 1105. Please give staff at least two weeks notice prior to the orientation you are registered to attend to process your accommodation request.
Durham Tech students are required to check in with their academic advisor every fall and spring prior to registering for classes. New students can meet with an academic advisor in the Advising Services department. Walk-in advising is available daily during business hours, and appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. See the Academic Advising webpage (linked) for more information, including locations and service hours.
Students who miss their New Student Orientation may revisit the New Student Orientation webpage and register for another upcoming session. If additional dates are not yet available, please proceed with meeting with an academic advisor. Visit the Academic Advising webpage (linked) for more information about hours, locations, and service options.
If you have any questions or difficulties in scheduling your New Student Orientation, please contact the ConnectCenter during normal business hours at 919-536-7200, ext. 0.
