New Student Orientation

February 12, 2024 - July 16, 2025

Once you complete your admissions application, you are ready to attend a New Student Orientation. These sessions are encouraged for all first-time college students, new students, students with fewer than 12 completed credits, students with fewer than 12 transferred credits, and strongly recommended for all students.

During the New Student Orientation, you will accomplish several tasks:

• Make connections with members of your new college community;
• Learn how to complete the enrollment process and receive information about the resources and services available to students;
• Review your program choice to determine if it is the best match for your career goals;
• Learn how to schedule an appropriate course load based on your personal and academic responsibilities;
• Learn how to prepare for the placement test;
• Learn how to schedule an appropriate course load based on your personal and academic needs;
• Review the registration and advising process to allow you to register for your classes;
• Learn about options for paying for your classes; and
• Learn how to activate your Self-Service and Student Email accounts and learn how to use Self-Service to register for classes.

Medical Assisting Information Sessions

October 26, 2023 - May 22, 2025

Learn more about this exciting program with great opportunities in health care. Ideal for those waiting to take nursing clinical courses, or who have completed their CNA but want to learn, do, and earn more!

At the information session, you will learn the following:

• Career opportunities and salary;
• Admission and prerequisite requirements;
• Registration process; and
• General program information.

CCP Enrollment Interest Meetings

February 6, 2024 - July 7, 2025

Sessions are based on the High School in which you attend.  Each high school has an assigned liaison to assist you through the enrollment process. 

These sessions are held to prepare our students for success.  Those interested in the Career and College Promise program must attend an enrollment interest meeting. During the meeting, students will learn about program requirements, plans of study, and how to apply for admission. Parents are welcome to attend. All sessions are held virtually and usually last an hour. It's important to be aware that entry into the Enrollment Interest Meeting will not be allowed after five minutes into the sessions. Make sure to join promptly to ensure you don't miss any important details.

Community Spanish Interpreter Information Sessions

This information session is for prospective Community Spanish Interpreter program students and is required for new program students.

We will discuss:

• Enrollment Steps;
• Spanish Placement Testing;
• Course Schedules; and
• Modality.

Durham Tech Open House

October 21, 2023 - March 22, 2025

Join us for an Open House where prospective students and community members can learn about Durham Tech’s Guided Career Pathways, student support services, and a variety of student engagement and career opportunities. There will be tables to learn about our programs, information sessions about financial aid, applying to the college, and campus tours. The event is free and open to the public.

Next NC Scholarship & FAFSA Pop In Sessions

June 27, 2024 - September 26, 2024

Durham Technical Community College with the support from the Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services is focusing on the NEXT NC Scholarship opportunity for in-state residents. During the session we will support students and families with questions about the Next NC Scholarship and FAFSA. We will have representatives to answer questions and guide participants with completing the application for the 2024-2025 academic year to attend college.

The Next NC Scholarship combines the federal Pell Grant with the state-funded financial aid program to form a simplified and predictable scholarship award that’s easier to understand and makes education more affordable for most North Carolinians. It’s an opportunity to pursue the degree you need for the career you want – and the future you choose.
